This book updated the 1994 edition, mainly by adopting the standard C++ library for the discussion of container classes (though the code examples are still generic) and the Unified Modeling Language as the design notation for the case study

Other modifications include more detail on how to code associations between objects and some reorganisation of the chapters on polymorphism, which I felt were too repetitive and included some unnecessarily complex theoretical stuff.

The most important thing of course is that it has a nicer cover and is printed on better paper than the first edition!
